The current CPIM version 8.0 exam will be available through May 31, 2026. Starting June 1, 2026, all candidates will take the new CPIM version 9.0 exam, which features an updated focus on planning, scheduling, and supply planning execution. The updated learning system becomes available on February 3, 2026. No exceptions will be made to test on the old version after May 31, 2026.
Requirements vary by certification. CPIM and CTSC have no eligibility requirements. CSCP requires 3 years of related business experience, a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent), or a qualifying professional certification (such as CPIM, CLTD, SCOR-P, CPM, CSM, or CPSM). CLTD eligibility was updated with the June 2025 exam refresh. SCOR-P is available only through an authorized training course.
APICS certifications require 75 professional development points every five years (100 points for CFPIM Fellows). Your maintenance cycle begins on the date you earn your certification. Points can be earned through activities related to the APICS body of knowledge. If you hold multiple APICS certifications, earned points can be applied to all designations when submitting maintenance applications. The SCOR-P endorsement does not require maintenance.
CPIM focuses on internal operations including production planning, inventory management, S&OP, MRP, and scheduling. CSCP covers the extended end-to-end supply chain from suppliers through to customers, including supply chain design, global logistics, and supplier/customer relationship management. Many professionals pursue both certifications for comprehensive supply chain expertise.
CPIM, CSCP, CLTD, and CTSC exams consist of 150 questions (130 scored, 20 pretest) with 3.5 hours allowed. SCOR-P has 60 questions with 2 hours. All exams use a scaled score from 200 to 350 with 300 as the passing threshold. Exams are administered via computer-based testing at Pearson VUE test centers worldwide or online through the OnVUE system.
