Everything you need to know about our Cisco prep materials.
Most Cisco certifications are valid for 3 years. You can recertify by passing a recertification exam, earning continuing education credits, or passing a higher-level exam within the same track before your certification expires.
Cisco implemented several major changes effective February 3, 2026: DevNet certifications were rebranded to CCNA/CCNP/CCIE Automation, CyberOps certifications became CCNA/CCNP Cybersecurity, Collaboration exams were updated to v2.0 with a new cloud specialist exam (300-825 CLCUX), and several automation-focused concentration exams were retired (300-535 SPAUTO, 300-735 SAUTO, 300-835 CLAUTO, 300-910 DEVOPS).
No. Since the 2020 certification restructure, Cisco removed formal prerequisites for Professional-level certifications. You can attempt any CCNP core and concentration exam without holding a CCNA, though Cisco recommends 3-5 years of relevant experience.
CCNP requires passing a core exam plus one concentration exam (both written). CCIE requires passing the same core written exam plus an intensive 8-hour hands-on lab exam where you configure, troubleshoot, and optimize real network equipment. CCIE is widely considered one of the most prestigious and difficult IT certifications in the world.
At the Professional level, you pass one core exam that covers broad technology fundamentals (e.g., 350-401 ENCOR for Enterprise). Then you choose one concentration exam to specialize (e.g., 300-415 ENSDWI for SD-WAN). Each concentration exam also earns a standalone Cisco Certified Specialist credential.
