Avaya retired the ACIS (Avaya Certified Implementation Specialist) and ACSS (Avaya Certified Support Specialist) certifications on February 28, 2025. All Pearson VUE proctored exams were discontinued. Both credentials were consolidated into the new ASTA (Avaya Services Technical Associate) credential, effective March 1, 2025. Existing ACIS/ACSS holders were automatically granted the ASTA credential.
ASTA (Avaya Services Technical Associate) is Avaya's unified services credential launched March 2025, replacing both ACIS and ACSS. ASTA is earned by completing required training courses and passing free online tests through the Avaya Learning Center. Each ASTA specialization focuses on a specific Avaya product (e.g., Aura Core, IP Office, AXP On-Prem).
ASTA credentials are currently issued without an initial expiration date, unlike the former ACIS/ACSS certifications which required retesting every 2 years. However, Avaya reserves the right to revisit this policy in the future.
Since the March 2025 transition, all ASTA online tests are offered free of charge through the Avaya Learning Center. Sales credentials (ASRA) are also free. This is a significant change from the previous model where proctored exams at Pearson VUE cost $125 and online services tests cost $90.
ASTA Implement focuses on installation and configuration skills for deploying Avaya solutions. ASTA Support covers administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting. For each product that supports both tracks, the ASTA Implement online test is also included as part of the ASTA Support credential requirements.
